Termites Eliminated from the Home Ideas Centre
With the Sentricon* Termite Colony Elimination System
Structure: Home Ideas Centre Location: Ashford, South Australia
Termite History: The Home Ideas Centre had previously suffered termite infestation which traditional liquid chemical treatments were unable to control. In early August 2000 active termites were discovered in five separate locations. The building itself was of varying construction, much altered and added to over the years thus creating many concealed entry points for the foraging termites. Also with approximately 300 permanent product displays at risk from termite attack, effective ongoing termite management was needed.
Solution: Murray Pest Control was arranged to inspect the building and recommend a termite management plan. The Sentricon* System was recommended due to its safety, efficiency and minimal disturbance to staff and visitors. Safety was paramount as parents would often have their children with them. The Sentricon* System would also eliminate the costly drilling of thousands of holes required to form a chemical barrier. After considering other options and costs the building owners selected Sentricon for installation august 2000, above ground bait stations were also placed at active termite feeding sites in the building.
Results: After three months of monitoring Murray Pest Control reported to the building owner that termites had consumed Recruit* bait sufficient to destroy the colony. Also a visible decrease in the termite worker caste numbers to the soldier caste’s provided further evidence the termite colony health was in serious decline. In February 2001 no active termites could be found in the monitoring stations, building or surrounding yard areas. As of July 2002 there has been no reoccurrence of termite activity.
