Termites Eliminated from the Gawler institute
With the Sentricon* Termite Colony Elimination System
Structure: The Gawler Institute Location: Gawler, South Australia
Termite History: Over many years termites had repeatedly infested this National Trust building causing significant damage. Experienced termite managers using registered liquid chemical products in accordance with product labels found termites repeatedly reappeared (sometimes in multiple locations) after treatment. Arsenic Trioxide a product capable of killing the termite queen, was also applied numerous times by experienced technicians also without success. The one meter thick stone and lime mortar walls contained an invisible and undetectable tunnel infrastructure continuously being added to and reengineered by the resident termites. consequently their foraging remained unpredictable and confounding for even the most experienced termite management experts.
Solution: Following recommendations from Murray Pest Control, the Gawler Council had the Sentricon* Termite Colony Elimination System installed around the Gawler Institute to protect the structure. The Sentricon System was installed in November 2000 with in-ground stations strategically placed around the entire perimeter of the institute and including the historic town hall adjoining. Murray Pest Control technicians monitored the site on a regular basis.
Results: Termites commenced feeding on Recruit* bait in September 2001, as of May 2002 no termite activity could be found in the Institute and Town Hall, or any of the surrounding yard areas.
